LE REVE RESORT & CASINO:
Located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip is
the new Le Reve Resort & Casino. Las Vegas newest 5-star resort is
being constructed at a cost of over 2 billion dollars. AAC provided
specialized interior acoustics analyses, diagnostic testing, and
recommendations to improve interior acoustics. NC analyses was conducted
to evaluate plasma screen installations and the overall impact on living
spaces. Sound intensity testing was conducted to evaluate sound leakages
in existing wall assemblies. A set of noise control recommendations were
developed to improve the sound insulation between units. Ultimately, the
interior acoustics was upgraded to a level beyond what is currently
experienced at a 5-star resort.

CITY OF LONG BEACH EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS AND OPERATIONS CENTER (ECOC)
FACILITY:
Near the turn of the century, the City of Long Beach (Calif),
with a population of nearly a half-million people, wanted to upgrade
their 9-1-1 call-in, Fire, Police, and Emergency Preparedness needs to a
new, state-of-the-art facility. As part of the overall architectural,
mechanical, and systems design effort for this project, AAC supported
the main architectural firm in all of the acoustics and noise control
aspects. AAC reviewed the mechanical installations (including the HVAC
design) for noise and vibration control, evaluated the building shell
design for exterior-to-interior noise control (as aircraft operations
from the nearby Long Beach Airport were of concern), and assessed
mechanical equipment isolation conditions. AAC staff also analyzed
interior space absorptivity characteristics, space-to-space separation,
flanking preventions, speech intelligibility, and audio/video design
support for this 50,000 square foot complex.

WALT DISNEY IMAGINEERING (WDI) VIBRATION STUDY, ANAHEIM:
A vibration
technical study was prepared to evaluate existing vibration impacts
associated with construction of a parking lot and access road located
adjacent to a high-tech electronics manufacturer. Of particular concern
was the buildings response to the proposed, adjacent vibratory inputs
and the resulting potential impacts to sensitive equipment operations.
Long-term vibration measurements were conducted to monitor the vibration
during construction and building vibration analyses were performed to
predict the future vibration environment conditions. A technical study
was prepared which summarized the results of the monitoring and
recommended building vibration reduction measures for minimizing impacts
to the sensitive receptors.
